Initially established to provide Christmas gifts to Carteret County children through the process of the children being “adopted” from local Angel Trees, Project Christmas Cheer has grown to both providing gifts to the children, and food or gift cards to qualifying seniors. Thanks to the individuals, businesses, churches, and community organizations of Carteret County that have over the years provided financial support and have adopted children and families to ensure that all in the community can share in the joy of Christmas. Project Christmas Cheer is now in the process of their fund drive for monetary donations to help provide gifts to children that have not been assigned to an Angel Tree. They also provide gift cards for all seniorswho are approved for assistance during this Christmas season. During the 2022 Christmas season, 648 Angels were adopted and 168 Senior Citizens had gifts provided .
