Another Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament is in the books- with a record-setting number of participants this year! No one can doubt that the tournament is well organized and greatly supported by our county but sometimes we need reminding that it is so much more than just one of the largest fishing tournaments on the East Coast. For example, the board has a five part mission statement that reads like this: “To promote sportfishing throughout Carteret County and the state of North Carolina. To promoteConservation among Sportfishermen. To raise money for Charities and Worthy Community Projects. To preserve Marine Culture and Heritage. To promote Marine Education.” Mrs. Joy Bell, long-time Tassels customer and first-ever female president of the tournament reminds us all that “Big Rock not only generates charitable funds for our community but also has a huge impact on our economy in Eastern North Carolina. It’s a great two weeks of fishing, fun, friends, and family!” New this year is Big Rock KidsBillfish Tournament, taking place July 15-17, 2021- check out details at www.thebigrock.com.
